  • For the outer covering:
  • Rice flour - 1 cup
  • Water - 1 cup
  • Oil/Ghee - 1 tbsp
  • A pinch of salt
  • For The Filling:
  • Fresh coconut - 2 cups
  • Jaggery - 1 cup
  • Cinnamon for flavouring
  • Keshar optional

How to Make Traditional Ukadiche Modak

  • For the outer covering:
  • Mix all the ingredients very well and microwave for 2 mins on high power.
  • Remove and mix food processor with the soft blade to form a ball.
  • If some water remains keep for another min.
  • Shape the modaks and steam in the microwave for 3mins.
  • Tip: Before steaming dip in water each modak.
  • Enjoy the most famous Maharashtrian sweet.
