Ingredients

  • Wheat rava - 1 cup
  • Chopped vegetables (cabbage, carrot, cauliflower, capsicum, onions) - 1 cup
  • Green chillies - 4.
  • Curry leaves - 1 sprig
  • Coriander leaves and grated Coconut to garnish
  • Sugar - 1/4 tsp
  • Tomatoes chopped - 2
  • Water - 2 cups
  • Oil - 4 tsp
  • Mustard - 1 tsp
  • Channa dal - 1 tsp
  • Cashews - 8
  • How to Make Traditional Vegetable Upma:

    1. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds.
    2. When it crackles, add channa dal and cashews.
    3. When done, add chopped green chillies and curry leaves.
    4. Add the vegetables and onions.
    5. Add salt and sugar and cook the vegetables till done on a low flame under cover.
    6. Add chopped tomatoes and cook till soft.
    7. Add water and bring to a boil.
    8. Stir in the rava and cook.
    9. When the water begins to reduce, lower the flame and cook under cover for 5 mins.
    10. Before serving, add ghee and garnish with coriander and grated coconut.
