Ingredients

  • moong da- 1/2 cup
  • Channa dal- 1/2 cup
  • sabuth or whole udad dal - 1 cup
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  • Cinnamon - 1 piece
  • Ghee or oil - 3 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
  • Red Chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Jeera powder - 1 tsp
  • Garam Masala powder - 1 tsp
  • Ginger - 1 pinch
  • Onion - 3 (1 chopped finely)
  • Garlic - 5 flakes
  • green chilly - 1 no (slit lengthwise)
  • Tomatoes - 3, medium sized
  • Coriander leaves
  • salt to taste
  • How to Make Tridev Dhal:

    1. Grind 2 onions, garlic, tomatoes, ginger into smooth paste. Pressure cook dal in enough water with turmeric powder. Chop tomatoes.
    2. Heat oil or ghee in a pan season with cumin seeds and chopped onions, green chilli, cinnamon.
    3. Stir till it turns golden.
    4. Add cooked dal, ground masala paste, salt and add little water.
    5. Add chilli powder, cumin powder and garam masala powder.
    6. Cook well. Garnish with green coriander leaves.
    7. Serve hot with roti, naan and rice.
