How to Make Tur Dal Khichari

  • Wash the tuvar dal. Boil with peanuts till the dal is half cooked.
  • Meanwhile, grind garlic, ginger, khopra together.
  • When the dal is half cooked, pour some oil in the pan in which you want to make the khichari.
  • When the oil is heated, add the mustard and cumin seeds.
  • After they splutter, put the garlic-ginger-khopra paste in it and mix it well in the oil.
  • Add tomato, garam masala, chilli powder and mix well.
  • Now pour the boiled tur dal-peanuts and rice into this.
  • Pour water as required.
  • Add salt. Place a lid and let the khichari cook.
  • It will take 15 mins and if using a cooker - cook until 4 whistles.
  • Garnish with coriander when ready.
  • Serve hot with pickle, papad.
