Ingredients

  • 1 - Turkey
  • 6 cups - Chestnuts boiled in salted water
  • 1 cup - melted Butter
  • 2 tsp - salt
  • 1/4 tsp - pepper
  • 1/2 cup - Cream
  • 2/3 cup - dry bread or cracker crumbs
  • 3 tbsp - chopped Parsley
  • 1 cup - chopped Celery
  • 2 tbsp - grated Onion
  • broiled sausages (for garnish)
  • How to Make Turkey with Chestnut Dressing:

    1. Shell and skin the chestnuts and drop them into boiling salted water.
    2. Cook them until they are soft.
    3. Put them through a potato ricer and combine them with the remaining ingredients.
    4. Fill cleaned turkey with the dressing.
    5. Roast the turkey uncovered in a slow oven at 300 F, until tender.
    6. Season with salt and pepper when it is half cooked.
    7. Serve on hot platter and garnish with broiled sausages.
