10-12 - sheets of filo dough
1 cup - grounded walnuts
1 cup - grounded pistachios
1/4 cup - melted unsalted butter
1/2 cup - sugar
For the syrup:
1 cup - water
1 cup - sugar
1/4 cup - honey
1 tbsp - lemon juice
1 tsp - rose essence
1/2 stick of cinnamon
How to Make Turkish Baklawa
Preheat the oven at 180 degree C.
Brush butter in a baking pan.
Mix grounded nuts and sugar.
Take 4 filo sheets, crumble them lightly with hands and place them over the greased baking pan.
Brush butter on top and spread another 3 sheets over the crumbled sheets applying butter between.
Apply butter on the top layer and evenly spread the grounded nuts and sugar mix.
Cut the layers carefully with a knife into squares or triangles.
Bake it in the preheated oven for 35-40 mins.
To prepare the sugar syrup:
Boil water and add sugar and cinnamon.
Simmer on medium for next 10 mins.
Add honey and simmer for another 5 mins.
Finally add lemon juice and rose essence and simmer for 1 more minute.
Serve Bake baklava with syrup on top.
