Ingredients

  • 1 cup - red lentils
  • 1 - onion, chopped
  • 1 - carrot, chopped
  • 1 - small sized potato, chopped
  • 1/2 cup - celery, Leeks or any vegetable of your choice, chopped
  • 3 Cloves - Garlic
  • 3 tsp - Olive oil
  • 1/2 tbsp - Rice
  • 1/2 tsp - paprika powder
  • 2 stalk - Coriander leaves
  • Salt - as required
  • How to Make Turkish Lentil Soup:

    1. Chop the vegetables roughly (it does not have to look neat).
    2. Wash the rice and lentils. Put them in a pressure cooker.
    3. Add all the chopped vegetables, paprika, salt and 2.5 cups of water.
    4. Pressure cook for 3 to 4 whistles.
    5. Let it cool down for a while, then blend it in a blender.
    6. Return it to the cooker again.
    7. In a separate pan, add olive oil.
    8. Add the finely chopped garlic and fry it for a while.
    9. Add this sauteed garlic to the soup and finally add the chopped coriander leaves.
    10. Serve the soup warm, with some bread.
