Ingredients

  • 1 cup - Toor Dal (yellow lentils)
  • 3-4 bunch - Spinach
  • 1 cup - Tomato (sliced)
  • 1/4 tsp - Turmeric
  • 3-4 flakes - Garlic
  • 1 - small Onion (sliced)
  • 10-15 - Curry leaves (optional)
  • 1 bunch - coriander
  • A pinch - Asafoetida
  • 1-2 tsp - Red Chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp - Ghee
  • 5-6 - Fenugreek
  • 1 tbsp - Coriander seeds
  • 2-3 - dry Red Chilli
  • How to Make Tuvar Dal with Palak:

    1. In a pressure cooker add water, lentils, spinach, fenugreek, garlic, a little of the coriander, one whole tomato, one onion sliced, asafoetida and close the cooker.
    2. Cook until the dal is soft (about 5-8 minutes). Mash this cooked mixture lightly.
    3. Add salt and chilli powder, cook on a low flame.
    4. Add turmeric and half of the curry leaves.
    5. In a saucepan, heat a little oil, add the remaining garlic, curry leaves, add dry red chillies and coriander seeds.
    6. When the oil is hot and sputtering, add it to the dal. Allow to stand for a few minutes.
