  • 1 cup - Toor Dal
  • 5 to 6 - red dried chillies
  • 3 - Garlic Cloves
  • 2 tsp - coriander (dhania)
  • a pinch - Asafoetida (hing)
  • 2 tsp - cashews (optional)
  • 2 tsp - Tamarind pulp or Lime juice can be used
  • 2 tbsp - grated fresh Coconut
  • 1.5 cups - cooked Rice
  • 1 tsp - Sugar
  • 1 - papad either microwaved or fried in oil
  • salt
  • How to Make Tuvar Masala Bath:

    1. Dry roast the tuvar dal without oil in a pan till a nice aroma comes and cool it on a plate.
    2. In the same pan, add a tsp of oil and add garlic pods, dhania, hing. Fry for 2 mins till the rawness from the garlic goes. Now add the dried red chillies and fry for a minute.
    3. Grind all the above into a coarse paste with tamarind pulp/lime juice and add little water to it.
    4. Take cooled boiled rice in a plate, then add the ground paste above and mix well.
    5. Add salt and sugar and mix again. Finally add the fresh coconut, break the papad and mix well.
