Ingredients

  • 2 cups - Rice
  • 1 cup - Urad Dal
  • Salt to taste
  • How to Make Urad dal Idli:

    1. Wash rice 6 to 8 times.
    2. Drain water and roast on a pan till the rice grains become almost dry.
    3. Soak rice immediately in cold water.
    4. Wash and soak urad dal separately.
    5. After 4 or 5 hours, grind rice and urad dal to make a coarse batter.
    6. Add salt to taste.
    7. Leave aside for 8 hours or till the batter is fermented.
    8. Smear idli pans with a little oil and cook idlis in pressure cooker without weight.
    9. After the steaming stops, wait for 10 minutes and remove cooker from flame.
