Ingredients

  • 1 cup - Urad dhal/split black gram dhal
  • 2 - Tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 tsp - Chilly powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp - Coriander powder
  • 1 tsp - Cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • 2 - Red Chillies broken into small bits
  • 1 tsp - Chopped Garlic
  • 8-10 - Curry leaves
  • 1 tbsp - Oil
  • Salt to taste.
  • How to Make Urad Dhal (Split Black Gram) And Tomato Curry:

    1. Wash the dhal and pressure cook along with the tomatoes, turmeric, chilly powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and 3 cups of water for up to 4-5 whistles.
    2. Add salt to taste.
    3. Now heat oil in a pan and splutter the mustard, red chillies and curry leaves. Pour this into the cooked dal and mix well.
    4. Serve with rice.
