  • 1/2 kg - urad dhal (soaked 1-2 hours)
  • Red Chillies - 2, cut
  • Ginger - small piece
  • Green chillies - 3, cut
  • Salt to taste
  • Curry leaves - a few
  • Oil for deep frying
  • How to Make Urad Vada:

    1. Wash and grind the urad dal to a thick paste.
    2. While grinding add green chillies, red chillies and ginger.
    3. Mix in the curry leaves and salt.
    4. Meanwhile, heat oil in a kadai to deep fry the vadas.
    5. Once the oil is heated, form small balls fro the batter and drop into the kadai.
    6. Fry on medium heat until light brown.
    7. Drain and serve hot with chutney.
