Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup - whole black pepper
  • 1 cup - urad dal
  • 1 - handful curry leaves
  • 2 cups - red chilli

How to Make Vathakuzhambu Podi

  • Heat 1 tsp of oil in a heavy bottomed pan, and add red chillies and fry for a while and take it in a mixer.
  • Heat another tsp of oil in the pan and add urad dal, pepper and curry leaves and fry till the dal becomes golden brown colour.
  • Allow the fried ingredients to cool off.
  • Now grind all the above fried ingredients in a mixer to a fine powder.
  • Now the vathakuzmambu podi is ready to use.
