Ingredients

  • 1 - raw banana/vazhakai
  • Turmeric powder a pinch
  • 1/2 tsp - chilli powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1tbsp - oil
  • 1 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • To grind:
  • 2 tbsp - Coconut
  • 1/2 inch piece - Ginger
  • 4 to 5 pieces - Garlic
  • 2 to 3 tsp - pepper
  • How to Make Vazhakai Pepper Chops:

    1. First cut the raw banana lengthwise like finger chips.
    2. Half boil it in water.
    3. Then marinate it with salt, chilli and turmeric powder and allow it to sit for 15 mins.
    4. Grind the ingredients under grinding 'to grind' to a fine paste with minimum water.
    5. Add oil, then mustard seeds and let it splutter.
    6. Now add the raw banana and saute for 3 mins .
    7. Next add the ground paste, and a little more salt if needed.
    8. Fry well till all is combined well.
    9. Sprinkle a little water and leave it closed for 2 mins to cook thoroughly.
    10. Open lid and saute until roasted well.
    11. Take off heat and serve with curd rice.
