Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup - arhar dal, split pigeon pea
  • 1 carrot
  • 2 green chillies
  • 50g - beans
  • 1 inch - ginger
  • 100g - cauliflower
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1/2 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp - oil
  • 1 tsp - cumin
  • 1 tsp - chilli powder
  • 1 tsp - coriander powder
  • 1 tsp - tamarind extract
  • Salt to taste

How to Make Vegetable arhar dal

  • Clean dal and soak in water for 15 mins.
  • Cut vegetables into 1 inch pieces, slit chillies and chop ginger and garlic.
  • Pressure cook dal with turmeric powder, chillies and salt up to 3 whistles.
  • Cook vegetables till tender.
  • Heat oil, fry cumin, add ginger-garlic and saute.
  • Add chilli, coriander powder, tamarind extract and some water and stir.
  • Add cooked dal and vegetables and boil for 5 mins on low heat.
  • Serve hot with steamed rice.
