How to Make

  • Finely chop the spinach and cook without any water for 5 minutes till all the water in the spinach has dried up.
  • Chop the French beans, carrots and onions very finely.
  • Boil the potatoes and mash while still hot.
  • Cut rounds from the slices of bread using a cutter or a lid.
  • Add enough water to the flour to obtain a slightly thick mixture (it should be of dropping consistency, thick enough to coat the gold coin).
  • Now heat 6 tbsp of oil in a heavy bottom vessel.
  • Put in the chopped French beans, carrots, onions, ajinomoto and green chillies.
  • Cook till fairly tender.
  • Add in the mashed potatoes, boiled spinach, salt, chilli sauce, vinegar and mix well.
  • Fry for about 5 minutes and remove. Cool completely.
  • Put about 1 tbsp of this preparation on each circular piece of bread (a bread coin).
  • Dip each in the flour mixture and deep-fry in the hot oil on a medium flame until golden brown in colour.
  • Serve hot.
