How to Make Vengaaya Sambar

  • Blend the tuvar dal in a mixer for 2 seconds.
  • Heat ghee in a kadai. Add mustard seeds and allow it to splutter.
  • Add the asafoetida, turmeric powder, green chilli, ginger and curry leaves.
  • Add the onions and saute the onion for 2 minutes.
  • Chop the tomatoes and add it and saute for another 1 minute.
  • Now add the tuvar dal and add 2 cups of water.
  • Add the tamarind paste, sambar powder, jaggery and required amount of salt and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
