Ingredients

  • 1 2/3 cups - flour
  • 1/2 cup - shortening
  • 1 cup - Sugar
  • 1 cup - chopped Dates
  • 1/2 - chopped Walnuts
  • 1 - Egg
  • 1 tsp - boiling water
  • 1 tsp - vanilla essence
  • 1 tsp - soda
  • 1/4 tsp - salt

How to Make Walnut Date Cake

  • Stir shortening to soften.
  • Add sugar and cream thoroughly.
  • Add egg and vanilla essence and beat well.
  • Sieve flour, soda and salt.
  • Add dates to the water and cook.
  • Add sieved ingredients to the creamed mixture alternately with date mixture, beating after each addition. Add walnuts.
  • Bake in paper-lined 9x9x2 inch pan at 350 degrees F for about 30-40 mins.
