Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup - Butter or margarine
  • 1 cup - Castor Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp - Vanilla
  • 1 - Egg
  • 2 tsp - Cocoa
  • 1/2 cup - Walnuts
  • 1/2 cup - Sultanas
  • 2 cups - Refined flour
  • 1 tsp - Baking powder
  • A pinch salt
  • 1 cup - Milk
  • 1 level tsp - Soda bicarbonate

How to Make Walnut Sultana Cake

  • Sieve together flour, salt and baking powder.
  • Cream butter/margarine with sugar and vanilla till light and fluffy.
  • Add well beaten egg.  Stir in cocoa blended with a little milk, chopped walnuts and sultanas.
  • Fold in sifted flour alternately with remaining milk in which soda bicarbonate has been dissolved.
  • Turn into greased tin.
  • Bake at 190 degrees C for 45-50 mins.
  • When cold, decorate with chocolate icing and sprinkle over the chopped walnuts.
  • Raisins or dates can be used instead of sultanas.
