Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup - Butter or margarine
  • 1 cup - Castor Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp - Vanilla
  • 1 - Egg
  • 2 tsp - Cocoa
  • 1/2 cup - Walnuts
  • 1/2 cup - Sultanas
  • 2 cups - Refined flour
  • 1 tsp - Baking powder
  • A pinch salt
  • 1 cup - Milk
  • 1 level tsp - Soda bicarbonate
  • How to Make Walnut Sultana Cake:

    1. Sieve together flour, salt and baking powder.
    2. Cream butter/margarine with sugar and vanilla till light and fluffy.
    3. Add well beaten egg.  Stir in cocoa blended with a little milk, chopped walnuts and sultanas.
    4. Fold in sifted flour alternately with remaining milk in which soda bicarbonate has been dissolved.
    5. Turn into greased tin.
    6. Bake at 190 degrees C for 45-50 mins.
    7. When cold, decorate with chocolate icing and sprinkle over the chopped walnuts.
    8. Raisins or dates can be used instead of sultanas.
