Ingredients

  • 1 cup - wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup - jaggery
  • 1.25 cups - water
  • 2 tbsp - split moong dal
  • 1 tsp - cardamom powder
  • 1/4 cup - grated coconut
  • 1/4 tsp - salt
  • 1 tbsp - oil

How to Make Wheat Flour Pidi Kozhukattai

  • Dry-roast the wheat flour in a pan for a few minutes and keep aside.
  • Dry-roast the split moong dal in a pan until golden brown.
  • Heat the water, oil and salt together. Once the water starts boiling, add the jaggery pieces and make a syrup.
  • Strain the syrup and heat again until it starts to thicken.
  • Immediately add the roasted wheat flour, roasted moong dal, grated coconut, cardamom powder and stir everything until the wheat flour get off the pan.
  • Let the dough mixture cool.
  • Make a small ball from the dough and press in your fingers.
  • Pressure-cook for 10 minutes in an idli cooker.
  • Serve hot.
