  • 2 cups - whole wheat pastry flour
  • 1 tbsp - active dry yeast
  • 1 cup - lukewarm water
  • 1 tsp - salt
  • 1 tsp - sugar
  • 1 tbsp - sesame seeds
  • 1/4 cup - olive oil

How to Make Whole Wheat Sesame Dinner Rolls

  • Mix the yeast, sugar and salt in lukewarm water and keep aside for 5 minutes until the yeast mixture turns foamy.
  • Mix the whole wheat pastry flour with sesame seeds.
  • Gradually add the foamy yeast and olive oil, and knead into a soft dough.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel and keep in a warm place.
  • Let it sit for an hour until it doubles in volume.
  • After an hour, punch down the dough and knead again.
  • Flatten the dough with a rolling pin and cut into 6 long strips.
  • Arrange them one over the other and cut again into 10-12 pieces.
  • Arrange these pieces one by one in greased muffin moulds and let them sit for an hour.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 F.
  • Brush the breads with olive oil, sprinkle some sesame seeds on top and bake on the middle rack for 15-20 minutes until a golden brown crust forms over the bread.
