  • 1 cup - whole Wheat flour
  • 1 cup - all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp - Wheat bran
  • 1/4 cup - low fat Milk powder
  • 1/4 cup - confectioner's Sugar or powdered Sugar
  • 1 tsp - Sugar
  • 1/4 tsp - salt
  • 1 tbsp - active Dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup - butter, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup - Sugar pearls
  • Milk - for brushing
  • How to Make Whole Wheat Sweet Buns:

    1. In a bowl, mix the flours, wheat bran, milk powder, confectioner's sugar, sugar pearls (keep aside some for topping) and butter.
    2. Mix the yeast, sugar and salt in half a cup of lukewarm water and keep aside for few minutes until the yeast turns foamy.
    3. Gradually add the yeast to the prepared flour mixture (add water if needed) and knead into a soft, smooth dough.
    4. Keep aside in a warm place for two hours.
    5. Preheat the oven to 350 F.
    6. Once the dough doubles in volume, punch down and knead well for few minutes.
    7. Make 6-8 medium sized balls from the dough and arrange them on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
    8. Brush the buns with milk and sprinkle generously with sugar pearls.
    9. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the crust turns golden brown.
    10. Enjoy for breakfast or as snacks with your favourite spread or jams.
