Ingredients

  • Yellow split peas -1 packet
  • Green chillies - 6 pieces
  • A small piece of Ginger
  • Onion - 1 large (Chopped)
  • Raw Potato (Grated) -1 cup
  • Coriander leaves - a few (Chopped)
  • A few Curry leaves
  • Saunf (Fennel seed) - 1 tsp
  • Garlic - 2 flakes
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying
  • How to Make Yellow Split Peas Vadai:

    1. Soak yellow split peas for 2 hours.
    2. Grind yellow split peas with the ginger, chillies, and saunf.
    3. Do not grind for a long time and stop when it is a coarse paste.
    4. Add coriander leaves, curry leaves, onion, grated potato, and salt.
    5. Heat oil in a frying pan.
    6. Take small balls of the dough and pat it into a round shape.
    7. Place them in the hot oil slowly
    8. Wait for some time and then turn them over.
    9. Deep fry until both sides are golden brown.
    10. Remove from oil and place on a paper towel.
    11. Allow the paper towel to absorb the excess oil.
    12. Serve hot with coconut chutney or mint chutney.
