Ingredients

  • yoghurt (curd) - 2 cup
  • red gram (toor) dal - 2 tbsp
  • bengal gram (chana) dal - 2 tbsp
  • raw rice - 2 tbsp
  • ghee - 1 tbsp
  • black gram (urad) dal - 2 tsp
  • dry red chilies 1 or 2
  • grated coconut - 3 tbsp
  • green chilli 1
  • turmeric powder - ½ tsp
  • water - 6 cup
  • coriander leaves to garnish
  • salt to taste

How to Make Yoghurt Shorba

  • Soak the first three ingredients together in water for 1 hour.
  • Heat ghee and roast black gram dal and red chili.
  • Grind the soaked ingredients with roasted ingredients, coconut and green chili to a smooth paste.
  • Mix the ground paste with turmeric powder, salt and yoghurt, which is beaten till smooth.
  • Add water and heat until boiling.
  • Reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Serve garnished with coriander leaves.
