Ingredients

  • 1 cup - yogurt
  • 2 tsp - oil
  • 4 - 5 - dry Red Chillies
  • 2 tsp - Coriander seeds
  • 1 tsp - Cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp - Fenugreek
  • 2 tsp - black gram (urad) dal
  • 2 tsp - Bengal Gram (channa) dal
  • 2 - 3 - Curry leaves
  • 1/2 cup - grated Coconut
  • salt
  • For seasoning:
  • 2 tsp - oil
  • 1 tsp - mustard
  • few - Curry leaves
  • How to Make Yogurt Saaru:

    1. Whisk the yogurt till smooth.
    2. Add 3 - 4 cups of water, mix well and reserve.
    3. Heat the oil and roast all the ingredients from red chillies to curry leaves.
    4. Grind the roasted ingredients with coconut to a smooth paste.
    5. Mix the paste with yogurt. Add salt.
    6. Boil and simmer for 2 - 3 minutes and remove from heat.
    7. Heat the oil for seasoning. Add mustard.
    8. When it splutters, add curry leaves.
    9. Add the seasoning to the saaru and serve hot.
