Ingredients

  • Raw rice - 1 cup
  • Toor dal - 1/2 cup
  • Channa dal - 1/2 cup
  • Urad dal - 1/4 cup
  • Moong dal - 1/4 cup
  • Red chillies - 5 or 6
  • Salt to taste
  • Asafoetida - 1 tbsp

How to Make Aamai Vadai

  • Grind all the above ingredients into a coarse mix.
  • Mix water and make into thick batter.
  • The batter can be left overnight for fermentation.
  • Pour small thick dosas (like uthappam) on a tawa and add oil on the sides.
  • Cook on both sides (add oil on both sides) till it turns crispy.
