Ingredients

  • Raw rice - 2 cup
  • Bengal gram (Channa dal) - 1/2 cup
  • Black gram (Urad dal) - 1/2 cup
  • Red gram (Toor dal) - 1/2 cup
  • Red chillies - 4 to 5
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Green chillies - 2, finely chopped
  • Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp, chopped
  • Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil

How to Make Ada

  • Wash and soak the rice and all the dals together in water for 4 hrs.
  • Grind to a slightly coarse, thick paste with red chillies.
  • Add turmeric powder, green chillies, coriander leaves and grated coconuts.
  • Heat a thick tawa. Pour 1/2 cup of batter and spread to about 1/8" thickness.
  • Pour some oil all round. Increase the heat and cook till the underside is brown.
  • Turn over and cook the other side.
  • Serve with avial, sambar or butter and jaggery
