Ingredients

  • For cabbage palya:
  • 2 cups - chopped cabbage
  • 1 tsp - channa-urad dal mixture
  • 2 tbsp - fresh grated coconut
  • 1 tsp - mustard seeds
  • 2 tsp - oil
  • 1 tsp - lemon juice
  • 2 sprigs - coriander
  • 1 tsp - red chilli powder
  • Curry leaves few
  • A pinch - asafoetida
  • Salt as per taste
  • For akki roti:
  • 1 cup - rice flour
  • 1 tsp - oil
  • 1/2 tsp - salt

How to Make Akki roti with cabbage palya

  • Heat oil in a kadai and splutter mustard seeds, add curry leaves, dal mixture and asafoetida.
  • Add chopped cabbage, chilli powder and stir.
  • Add grated coconut salt and chopped coriander when the cabbage is almost cooked.
  • Remove from fire and add lime juice.
  • Mix well.
  • For Akki Roti:
  • Mix 1-2 tsp of rice flour, oil and salt in about 1.5 cups of water and bring the mixture to boil.
  • To this, add the remaining flour and mix well. The rice flour should form a single dumpling and stick to the ladle.
  • Remove from stove and let it cool for a while.
  • Knead it well when it is still warm.
  • Make small balls from the dumplings and roll them into rounds using a rolling pin.
  • Heat tawa on stove and cook akki roti on both sides.
  • Pour little ghee and serve.
