Ingredients

  • Potatoes - 1/4 Kg
  • Onions - 2
  • Green Chillies -3
  • Bay leaf - 3 (optional)
  • Chilli powder - 2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Cashew nuts - 15
  • Coconut milk (or) Milk - 1/2 cup
  • Salt
  • Oil
  • For grinding masala:
  • Ginger - 1/2 inch piece
  • Garlic - 4 cloves
  • Cloves - 4
  • Cardamom - 2
  • Cinnamon - 1 stick
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  • Coriander seeds - 1 tsp

How to Make Aloo Khorma

  • Boil the potatoes.
  • Peel and cut them to medium sized cubes.
  • Heat oil and add cashews and bayleaf.
  • Fry till light brown.
  • Add onions, green chillies and turmeric and fry till golden brown.
  • Add the ground masala paste, potatoes, chilli powder and salt. Mix well. Add a little water.
  • Add coconut milk or milk, mix and cover the pan and continue to cook till the oil leaves the sides of the pan.
  • Serve hot with plain rice or fried rice.
