Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup - potatoes, peeled and chopped into cubes
  • 3/4 cup - chopped onions
  • 3/4 cup - shelled peas
  • 8 to 10 cubes paneer
  • 2 green chillies
  • 2 to 3 cloves - garlic
  • 1/2 inch piece - ginger
  • 1/4 cup - coriander leaves
  • 2 tomatoes (1 chopped and 1 cut into half)
  • 1/2 tsp - garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp - red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp - cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp - mustard seeds

How to Make Aloo Mattar

  • Heat oil and add 1/2 tsp of cumin and mustard seeds.
  • Add a pinch of turmeric and then the chopped onions.
  • Fry for a few minutes and then add the chopped tomatoes, potatoes and peas.
  • Add a little water if required.
  • Cover the pan and cook until the potatoes and peas are tender.
  • Stir in between and add salt while cooking.
  • Grind the remaining ingredients except the paneer.
  • Deep fry the paneer till golden brown.
  • Add the above paste to the pan and cook for a few mins.
  • Add paneer before serving and garnish with coriander leaves malai.
  • Serve with puris or parathas.
