Ingredients

  • Potatoes - 7-8
  • Methi leaves - 2 bunches
  • Oil - 3 tbsp
  • Small onion - 3
  • Green chillies - 4
  • Garlic - 3 pods
  • Ginger - 1 small piece
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 tbsp (optional)
  • Red chilli powder - 1/2 tbsp
  • Garam Masala - 1/2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste.

How to Make Aloo Methi Masala

  • Boil the potatoes and keep aside.
  • Wash the methi leaves and cut them coarsely.
  • Boil the methi leaves or microwave it for 8 minutes.
  • Cut the onion, ginger, garlic and green mirchi.
  • Heat 1 tbsp oil in pan and saute the finely cut garlic and ginger until light brown.
  • Add the green mirchi and fry for another 2 minutes.
  • Add the onions and saute until the onions turn pink. Keep aside.
  • Add the remaining oil to the pan and keep on a low flame.
  • Peel the boiled potatoes and cut them into equal sized pieces and add it to the oil.
  • After 3-5 minutes, add the boiled methi leaves and salt and let it simmer.
  • Now grind the onions, garlic, ginger and mirchi into a fine paste.
  • Add this paste to the aloo-methi dish and cook for another 10 minutes.
  • Add the cumin powder, garam masala and chilli powder and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • Serve with chappati.
