Ingredients

  • 2 cups - basmati rice
  • 4 cups - water or milk or coconut milk
  • 1 cup - palak leaves
  • 1 cup peas - peas
  • 1 cup - potatoes, diced
  • 2 - onions
  • 1 - tomato (optional)
  • 1 tsp - saunf
  • 2 inch - cinnamon stick
  • 3 - cloves
  • 1 tbsp - ginger garlic paste
  • 4 - green chillies
  • Oil
  • Salt

How to Make Alu Palak Pulao

  • Blanch palak. Blend it in a mixer.
  • Heat oil and splutter the whole spices.
  • Saute onions till they are golden brown in colour.
  • Add ginger garlic paste and green chillies.
  • When you get a good aroma, add diced potatoes and fry it for a while.
  • Then add the peas followed by the blended palak.
  • You can also add tomato for a tangy taste.
  • Allow the mixture to boil for a while till the raw smell goes away.
  • Season it with coriander powder and salt.
  • Then add basmati rice and fry it for a while.
  • Add water or milk or coconut milk as per the ratio to the cups of rice added.
  • Sprinkle salt. Add a tbsp of ghee as a final touch.
  • You can also add cubed and fried paneer pieces at the end or even shredded paneer.
