Ingredients

  • 500gms - fine semolina
  • 6-8 green chillies (chopped very fine)
  • 1 tsp - mustard seeds
  • 3 tsp - split urad dal without husk
  • 1inch - ginger piece, chopped very fine
  • 8 curry patta leaves, chopped fine
  • 2 tsp - finely chopped coriander leaves
  • 2 tbsp - cashew pieces
  • 1 tbsp - oil
  • 1/2 tsp - cumin

How to Make Basic recipe for rawa idli

  • Dry fry rawa till it turns light brown and remove
  • In the same pan, heat 1 tsp oil add mustard seeds, cumin and dal.
  • Fry till dal becomes light golden in color and remove.
  • Heat remaining oil and add the remaining ingredients one by one.
  • Fry under simmer till they almost become dry without any moisture (Add the cashew last)
  • Now add rawa and fried dal to the mix, stir once and remove.
  • Cool and store in an airtight container
  • Use as and when required.
  • Method for preparing rawa idli: Add salt, a pinch of soda bicarb, curd and a little water; keep for 15 min and prepare idli as usual.
  • Serve with groundnut chutney.
