Ingredients

  • Beans – 400 grams
  • Shallots – 4 nos
  • Crushed Dried Red Chilli Bits – 1 tsp
  • Green Chillies – 2 -4 nos
  • Curry leaves – 1 sprig
  • Cashew Nuts – 10 nos
  • Coconut Pieces – 25 grams
  • Raisins – 10 nos
  • Oil / Butter – 1 – 2 tbsp
  • Salt – to taste
  • Water – 40 ml (or enough as per instructions for the steamer)

How to Make Beans Mezhukkupuratti

  • Break the beans into 2 inch pieces with your hand.
  • Finely slice the shallots. Slit lengthwise the green chillies. De-seed if desired.
  • In a non-stick pan add the oil, add mustard seeds and allow to splutter.
  • Add the remaining ingredients (except beans), stir for 2-4 mins.
  • Now add the steamed beans. Season with salt to taste.
  • Stir uncovered on medium flame for about 4 -5 minutes and it is done.
  • Serve as a side dish for rice, cucumber yoghurt curry and poppadam.
