Bevu Bella, made using bevu or neem flowers and jaggery, is a dish specially made during Ugadi. Gudi Padva or Ugadi is celebrated on the first day of the Chaitra month to mark the beginning of the New year in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Maharashtra. In some parts of India, Ugadi is known as Vikram Samvat or Bhartiya Nav Varsh.

Eaten on the beginning of the New Year, Bevu Bella is a dish symbolising the bittersweet nature of life.

  • Neem flowers - 1/4 cup
  • Jaggery - 1/4 cup (grated)
  • Banana - 1/4 cup (sliced)
  • Honey - 2 tsp
  • Ghee - 4 tsp
  • Coconut - 1/4 cup
  • Besan flour - 1/2 cup
  • Cardamom powder - 2 tsp
