Ingredients

  • 2 cups - rice
  • 4 to 5 tbsp - oil
  • 3 big onions (finely sliced)
  • 3 to 4 - cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 - bay leaves
  • 4 to 5 - cardamoms
  • 4 cups - water
  • salt to taste

How to Make Bhujela Chawal

  • Wash and soak the rice for 20-30 minutes.
  • Take oil in a heavy bottomed vessel and fry the finely sliced onions on a low flame till they are golden brown in color.
  • After the onions are done, remove about 2 tbsp of fried onions and keep aside for garnishing.
  • To the Onions in the vessel, add cloves, cinnamon stick, bay leaves and cardamoms and fry for a minute.
  • Add the rice, water, and salt to taste.
  • Give it a boil.
  • After a boil, reduce the flame.
  • Cook till the rice is done and the water has been absorbed.
  • Garnish with the kept aside onions.
  • Serve hot with any curry or dal.
