  • 5 bread slices
  • 2 small boiled potatoes
  • 1 tsp - red chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp - coriander leaves (finely chopped)
  • 2 to 3 tbsp - water
  • oil for deep frying
  • salt to taste
  • For the Batter:
  • 2 cups - gram flour
  • pinch cooking soda
  • 1.5 tsp - red chilli powder
  • sufficient water to make the batter
  • salt to taste

How to Make Bread Pakodas with Mashed Potatoes

  • For the Gram Flour Batter:
  • In a bowl mix together gram flour, cooking soda, salt and red chilli powder.
  • Add sufficient water and a little thick batter.
  • For the Pakodas:
  • Mash or grate the boiled potatoes.
  • Add red chilli powder, coriander leaves and salt. Mix well.
  • Cut each bread slice diagonally into two.
  • Apply little of the potato mixture on each piece of the bread slice and dab little water on top of it.
  • Dip the piece in the gram flour batter and deep fry on a medium flame till golden.
  • Serve hot with mango pickle or green chutney.
