Ingredients

  • 1 cup - basmati rice, soaked
  • 1 cup - yellow corn
  • 2 - medium sized onions
  • 6 - green cardamoms
  • 1 tsp - cumin seeds
  • 6 - cloves
  • 2 - cinnamon piece
  • 2 - black cardamoms
  • 2 tsp - red chilli powder
  • 2 - bay leaves
  • 2.5 cups - water
  • Salt to taste
  • 5 tbsp - oil

How to Make Brown Rice with Yellow Corn

  • Heat oil in a heavy bottomed vessel
  • Add the cumin seeds, cloves, cinnamon, bay leaves and cardamoms. Saute for few seconds
  • Add the sliced onions and fry on a medium flame till golden brown
  • Add corn and red chilli powder. Saute on a low flame for five minutes
  • Add the rice , 2.5 cups water and salt
  • Mix well. Simmer. Cover with a lid
  • Gently mix at regular intervals
  • Cook till the rice is done
  • Serve hot with raita
