  • Medium carrots - 3
  • Hot green chillies - 3
  • Garlic - 1 clove
  • Tamarind and salt - according to your taste buds
  • For seasoning:
  • Oil - 1/2 tbsp
  • Dry red chilli - 1
  • Bengal gram - 1/2 tsp
  • Split black gram - 1/2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Curry leaves
  • Asafoetida (optional)

How to Make Carrot Chutney

  • Fry green chillies in 1/2 tbsp hot oil for 3 minutes and take them out of the oil (the same oil can be used for seasoning).
  • Cut carrots into pieces so that it will be easy to grind.
  • Without adding water grind carrot pieces, fried green chillies, garlic, tamarind and salt until the carrots and chillies are finely grated.
  • Fry all the ingredients for seasoning in oil until the cumin seeds pop and add them to the carrot mix.
  • Tastes good with rice or chapati.
