Ingredients

  • 1 cup- basmati rice
  • 1/2 cup- moong dal
  • 1/4 cup- channa dal
  • 6 cardamoms
  • 10 cashew nuts
  • A few sliced almonds
  • A few raisins
  • 2 cups- sugar
  • 1 cup- pure ghee
  • 1 liter- milk

How to Make Chakrapongali

  • Fry the moong and chana dal in 2 table spoons of ghee.
  • Wash the basmati rice and drain it. Fry the rice lightly in 1 tbsp of ghee for a minute or two.
  • Boil the rice, moong dal and the chana dal together in the milk.
  • After the rice and the dals are well cooked, add sugar and ghee.
  • Leave everything cooking for 10 more minutes on low flame.
  • Fry the cashews, almonds, and raisins in a tbsp of ghee, and add them to the rice. Peel off the cardamoms, powder them and add to the rice.
  • Be careful that the rice mix doesn't burn at the bottom. Let cool and serve.
