  • 1 kg - potatoes
  • 200 g - onions
  • 200 g - cheese
  • 150 ml - cream
  • 50 g - breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp - butter
  • salt and pepper as per taste
  • a few fresh chopped coriander leaves for garnishing

How to Make Cheese and Potato Casserole

  • Turn the oven on full.
  • Wash the potatoes well and slice thinly.
  • Peel and thinly slice the onions.
  • Add the potatoes and onions into the boiling water. Boil for 5-7 minutes, checking from time to time if the water has evaporated.
  • In the meantime, grate the cheese, prepare the breadcrumbs and chop the coriander leaves.
  • Butter a heat-proof casserole and place a layer of grated cheese at the bottom.
  • Cover this with a layer of drained potatoes and onions and pepper. Add salt as per taste.
  • Repeat this until all the potatoes are used, finishing with a layer of cheese.
  • Pour the cream over the top, cover with the breadcrumbs, dot with butter, and cook for at least 15 minutes.
  • Sprinkle chopped coriander and serve.
