Ingredients

  • 3.5 cups - self-raising flour
  • 250 g - butter or margarine
  • 2 cups - castor sugar
  • 2 cups - yogurt
  • 4 - eggs
  • 200 g - cherries
  • 2 tsp - soda bicarb
  • 1 cup - cocoa
  • To decorate: a few glace cherries and some whipped cream

How to Make Choco-Cherry Cake

  • Sieve the flour, sugar, cocoa and soda bicarbonate. Cut the cherries and mix into the sieved ingredients.
  • Melt butter in a heavy-bottomed pan. Cool slightly before adding the eggs and yogurt.
  • Stir the butter mixture into the flour and combine well until smooth.
  • Spoon into a greased tin and bake at 180 degrees C for an hour.
  • Cool in the tin for a while before turning out onto a wire rack for further cooling.
  • Decorate with whipped cream and cherries.
