Ingredients

  • 3 - brinjal
  • 3 - onion
  • 3 - tomato
  • 6 tsp - tamarind juice thick
  • A pinch turmeric
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tsp - oil
  • For garnish : 1/2 tsp - mustard
  • 1/2 tsp - methi seeds
  • A little oil
  • To grind:
  • 6 - small onion
  • 2 tsp - coconut
  • 4 - cloves garlic
  • 6 - red chilli
  • 1 tsp - coriander seeds
  • 1/2 tsp - cumin seeds
  • 2 tsp - dal or channa dal
  • 1 small bunch - Coriander

How to Make Coimbatore tamarind kozhambu

  • Fry all the ingredients to be ground and make a smooth paste.
  • Heat oil, add mustard and methi seeds. Add brinjal, tomato and onion and fry a little
  • Add tamarind paste, salt, and turmeric
  • Add 2 cups of water and allow to boil for 10 mins.
  • Add the paste and cook on sim for 5 - 7 mins
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.
