Ingredients

  • 1 cup - moong dal
  • 3 cup - water
  • 1 tsp - mustard seed
  • 1 tsp - cumin
  • 1 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp - chopped ginger
  • 3 - green chillies
  • 2 tbsp - oil
  • 1 - onion
  • 2 tbsp - chopped carrot
  • 2 tbsp - green peas
  • 1/2 cup - cabbage
  • Coriander leaves - a bunch
  • Salt to taste

How to Make Colourful Dal

  • Grind ginger and green chillies to a fine paste.
  • Heat oil in a kadai, add mustard and cumin.
  • Then add onion, the ground paste and stir well until golden brown.
  • Add turmeric powder and mix well.
  • Finally, add the remaining vegetables and moong dal with 3 cups of water and salt.
  • Cook until done.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot with chapattis or naan.
