  • 500 g - pumpkin, peeled and cubed
  • 2 - medium-sized crabs
  • 1 tbsp - cumin seeds
  • 1 - big piece of ginger
  • 3 - bay leaves
  • 2 - green chillies, minced
  • 1 tsp each - garam masala and turmeric powder
  • salt and chilli powder to taste
  • a handful of coriander leaves

How to Make Crabs with Pumpkin

  • Boil the crabs and remove the meat from the shells. Fry to a red colour.
  • Grind ginger and cumin seeds to a paste.
  • Heat 4 tbsp of oil and add the bay leaves and 1/2 tsp of cumin seeds.
  • When the seeds turn brown, add all the spices, except garam masala. Mix well, then add ginger paste, salt and the pumpkin.
  • Cover tightly and cook without adding water until the pumpkin is almost done. Add the crab meat and continue cooking until the pumpkin is cooked.
  • Pour 2 tbsp of oil and fry until the gravy is dry and has turned to nice brown colour.
  • Remove from fire and sprinkle garam masala, chillies and coriander leaves on top.
