Ingredients

  • 2 cups - macaroni
  • 1 - onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 - tomato (finely chopped)
  • 2 - garlic (finely chopped)
  • 3 tbsp - olive oil
  • 5-6 tbsp - tomato sauce
  • 1 cup - milk
  • 1/2 cup - white sauce
  • 3-4 tbsp - coriander leaves (finely chopped)
  • 1 tbsp - oregano
  • 2 tbsp - black pepper
  • 1 cup - grated mozzarella cheese
  • salt to taste

How to Make Creamy Baked Macaroni in White Sauce

  • Cook the macaroni according to package directions.
  • Drain the cooked macaroni and allow it to cool a little bit.
  • In a medium-sized saucepan, heat olive oil over medium high flame.
  • Add onion and garlic and saute gently for 2-3 mins.
  • Add the chopped tomato and coriander leaves and saute for 5 mins on medium heat or until the tomatoes are done.
  • Add tomato sauce and oregano and mix well.
  • Add 1 cup of milk, 1 tbsp of black pepper and salt to taste and bring to boil.
  • Lower the heat, cover and allow it to simmer for 15 mins. Your red sauce is ready.
  • Grease a microwave-safe dish with 2 tbsp of olive oil and add one-quarter of the red sauce as a layer at the bottom.
  • Spread one-third of the white sauce on top, carefully applying with a large spoon or spatula.
  • Add the cooked macaroni over the white sauce.
  • Press lightly with the spatula.
  • Add 1 cup of grated cheese over the macaroni.
  • Sprinkle black pepper on the top.
  • Repeat the same process once more by applying red sauce over the cheese, then white sauce, macaroni and finally the remaining cheese.
  • Microwave at 60 degrees for 5 mins and then grill for 2 mins.
  • Pour in a plate, mix well and serve hot.
