Ingredients

  • 185 g - butter
  • 125 g - dates
  • 60 g - glace cherries
  • 60 g - walnut pieces
  • 1.5 cups - self-rising flour
  • 1/2 cup - sugar
  • 2 - eggs
  • 1 tsp - vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp - bicarbonate of soda
  • 2 tbsp - milk
  • Cornflakes - as needed

How to Make Crunchy Drops

  • Cream together butter, vanilla and sugar until white and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Sift flour and soda together. Add one-third of flour to creamed mixture and fold in.
  • Add 1 tbsp of milk. Add another third of the flour and rest of milk. Then, add rest of flour. Mix well.
  • Stir in chopped walnuts, chopped dates and chopped cherries.
  • Drop teaspoonful of dough onto the cornflakes and toss lightly.
  • Place on greased oven trays.
  • Allow room for spreading.
  • Bake in moderate oven for 15 minutes or until light golden brown.
