Ingredients

  • yellow cucumber - 500 gm
  • dry red chillies 5 to 6
  • grated coconut - one and a half cup
  • tamarind - 2 cm ball
  • oil - 2 tbsp
  • garlic 8 to 10 flakes, peeled
  • salt to taste

How to Make Cucumber Koddel

  • Peel the cucumber, discard the core and cut the flesh into 4 cm cubes.
  • Cover the cucumber with just enough water and simmer till it is cooked.
  • Heat 2 tsp of oil and roast the chillies.
  • Grind them with coconut and tamarind to a smooth pate.
  • Add sat and the ground paste to cooked cucumber and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Heat remaining oil and fry garlic till dark brown and add to the Koddel.
  • Serve hot with steamed rice.
