  • 750 gms. Singhara fish (boneless), cut into 2 cubes
  • 3 tbsp. dessicated coconut
  • 4 tbsp. coriander leaves, chopped
  • 1 tbsp. garlic, chopped
  • 1 ½ cups yoghurt
  • 4 tbsp. mustard oil
  • 3 onions, finely chopped
  • 2 Bay leaves (tej patta)
  • ½ tsp. turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp. chilli powder
  • 1 tsp. garam masala
  • 3 green chillies, finely chopped

How to Make Dahi Mein Machchi

  • Wash the fish pieces and pat dry.
  • Grind together the dessicated coconut, coriander leaves and garlic together.
  • Whisk the dahi and mix in the above paste until nice and smooth.
  • Heat 3 tbsp. of oil in a non stick pan and fry onion until golden.
  • Add bay leaf, turmeric and fish.
  • Saute for about 5 minutes, add whisked yoghurt, salt, chilli powder and garam masala.
  • Cook over medium flame for 7-10 minutes, stirring continuously but gently.
  • Meanwhile, heat remaining oil in another small pan, add green chillies and fry for just 2 minutes.
  • Pour over the dish and serve immediately with boiled rice as an accompaniment.
