Ingredients

  • 1 cup - toor dal
  • 1 tsp - green chilli paste
  • 1/2 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 1/2 cup - cooked green peas
  • 2 - tomatoes, chopped
  • 5 - curry leaves
  • 2 - cloves garlic, chopped
  • 2 - red chillies
  • 2 tbsp - oil
  • 2 tbsp - fresh coconut, grated
  • 2 tbsp - coriander leaves, chopped
  • 1 tsp - mustard seeds
  • Salt to taste

How to Make Dal sartaj

  • Boil dal in a pressure cooker. Remove. Churn lightly.
  • Add chilli paste, peas, tomatoes, curry leaves, coconut, turmeric powder and salt. Boil once. Heat oil. Add mustard seeds, red chillies and garlic.
  • Brown and pour over dal. Serve with rice.
